the cracks in our memories can't change the bonds in our hearts
Welcome
to Simple and Clean, an au post-3D Kingdom Hearts roleplay.
After Xehanort removed the chains of memories linked not to people, but to objects and events - the keyblade, the Princesses of Heart, and Kingdom Hearts itself - the heroes found themselves living in a world where they are... ordinary. Where they are highschool and college students, parents or siblings, and living in a world not too far removed from our own.
Casting his spell cost Xehanort strength and time, but he's begun to move - and not everyone had their memories pulled. How will the worlds react to the return of the darkness when the light doesn't know to stand against it?
Events
Xehanort's awakening is at hand, and with it has come the beginning of the destruction of his spell.
Updates
10/08/17 First major site event has begun! Xehanort has awoken and he's hellbent on ensuring his plans will not be interfered with. A halloween writing contest has started as well, so be sure to check them both out.
The moment Lea accepted the firecrackers, he had offered a hand out for firelighter, meanwhile Roxas dug for it, Lea had laid out the plan distract n run. Roxas gave a singular nod Only have a flat second realization he was willing to sacrifice his only defense to his friend, leaving only a stupid choice of having smokebombs and couple extra now useless firecrackers. His friend, goodnesss he felt completely trusting in his friend. The guy looked absolutely calm and confident it only reminded Roxas how belittled he was in comparison to his "College aiming". How he only seemed to be falling apart while others around him rose to higher near impossible reachable heights.
Hesitation. That was the biggest problem. Insecurity of when to attack. insecurity whether he personally could handle this thing. There seemed to be a sudden atmosphere change, something Roxas so caught up with his own insecurities didn't even notice. No, one moment there was a pause plan laid out, the next Lea made a move to attack. Then the.. Black Squirrels? Jumped latching on. Rats. That's it Giant Rats. Digging their claws into his flesh dragging him to the ground.
Roxas reacted grabbing the nearest heartless, the feeling of the flesh. Definitely Not fur. Most like a smooth off feeling like that of a human flesh but smoothed out. Naked.. Def Naked Ugly Rats. Naked Black Freeaky Rats. He pulled it off the best he could using all his strength heart pounding. They were so Fucked. Whatever these things were... They were Fucked. Hoard Black naked Rat Things. "Mother Fucking are these Things!" He shouted grinding teeth confused the hell animal this was. Why didn't they teach this in Science?!
Lea looked at Roxas who had the lighter gripped in his hand ready for him to reach out and grab it. Lea felt so calm, he felt as if he had done this kind of thing over a million times. It was strange, but he went along with it as it was the only thing keeping the two going now.
The sound of the creatures appearing behind him was obvious, and lea new exactly what had happened just from the sound. It was like someone ascending from water, but darker, and a much thicker substance. He imagined another black ant like creature with another set of those bright yellow eyes. Those eyes were going to be the death of him. If he managed to find a way out of this mess he knew that he would be nothing but paranoid about it.
During his attempt to turn around, Lea spotted the creature that he had already assumed was behind him. Suddenly, a sting began in the back of his leg. He swung to try and see what it was, before he could turn, another had jumped onto his back. He could feel, what felt like claws jamming in to his back. He could tell very well that they were not trying to penetrate his skin, but to pull him down. His body felt like it began to sink as he called out to Roxas. “Go, now!”

Even er I must end my life to save my world, t'would be a sacrifice I know would not be in vain.
So posting order is RLY and four posts before an NPC post
There was only so much they could do.
They could struggle. They could try to fight. They could run-- and they would die. Their hearts would be ripped free and devoured. Perhaps if they were lucky, if one of them was lucky, the other would be enough of a distraction to allow them ample time to fully escape but... would that really be considered 'luck'? To escape at the cost of the life of a friend?
The shadows were crawling on the redhead, trying to drag him down, and-
"-ha!"
Three balls of light encircled the area of the two, seeming to eat away at the dark creatures. The pale-haired cat-eared woman darted forward, a long staf held tightly in her hands as she moved to slip between the heartless and the teens. Tail flicking behind her, she tilted her head as if she 'glance' over her shoulder at them. "I don't have to tell you twice to run, do I?"
Panic, it was useless pointless, these things.. They were not natural, not natural at all, every bit of strength was doing absolutely no damage. What the hell were these things, tears gathered up in his eyes blurring his vision to see really nothing but darkness and red. Please. Please don't. Don't. He heard a shouting of 'ha!' suddenly white blur seemingly to combine circling, it was happening so fast he couldn't even focus on what was happening?! He quickly blinked the tears away as the dark creatures practically were, how does one describe it? Burned away? Like a bright dragon firework coming to life, he.. He had no idea what was happening. He slowly picked himself up noticing a woman with a tail between them. He couldn't help but scream out loud, " Blind Catgirl!" He gave a laugh, as she glanced over to them telling them... Really should she tell them to run.
Run? Of course? Get help Lea. He quickly placed an arm around Lea, heart pounding, that weird Blind woman.. She was Saving them from those those. Pushed as much of his weight trying to help Lea up and get out. Heart pounding ringing in his ears, she can handle it. She can handle it. She... Was some sort of warrior right? or something? She had pretty sweet fireworks.. or. Or. she was like them not of this world. "Come on Lea!" He shouted trying to persuade his friend to make it through.
Note: it may seem slightly out of character for Roxas, no worry. If Lea doesn't do anything, he'll completely do something stupid later on.Guilt for pulling her ears and needing to apologize.. Total excuse; total lie. Right now he's focused helping Lea out.
The bright light that came from the woman's spell easily melted away the shadows that it touched, causing them to hiss and slip off of Lea before they could fully evaporate. Lack of emotion didn't mean lack of self preservation, no matter how small and weak they were perceived to be.
They were hungry though, and they wanted the two bound hearts. The new comer's heart was fresh and could be easily ripped, but it was clear that she lacked the light that made the others so-- desireable. She was an annoyance at best, a hindrance at worse, and for the moment they would simply move to work around her. After all, all light ever did was create more spaces for shadows to hide.
That was the funny thing about light and shadow, really. In truth, shadows wouldn't even exist without light. It would just be nothing. And with light, even the strongest, purest light, there would always be the inevitable jagged edge that cast even the smallest sliver of a shadow that would eventually grow into a lumbering, hungering beast.
Funny.
They sank down into the ground, slipping beneath her feet before reaching up to claw at the legs of the blond and the hobbled red-haired, now both trying to pull them down and to tear into them.
The pain was growing, and Lea could feel it as the black creatures pierced his skin. He didn’t scream, he only grunted and tried to take it without worrying Roxas too much. Even though it did look quite bad, with the heartless clawing him and all… That was when Lea had just realized something, he knew what they were. So strange, he hadn’t seen them before. At least he couldn’t remember if he had.
Lea was made to throw this strange thing to the back of his mind. The pain was growing and he had to do something. He attempted to stand with all his might, but each push was replied with more pain. Lea couldn’t see a way out of this situation and he was beginning to lose hope. Scratch after scratch, more and more pain. Then a bright light lit up the tunnel and lea thought it might have been heaven.
Then the heartless had disappeared gone almost immediately after seeing the light. Lea attempted to stand but was unable to. He held a large gash on his side, straight across his left ribcage. It stung with any kind of force that Lea tried to put on his body.
He heard a voice telling them to run and even heard Roxas say something to her. He couldn’t make out much of what was going on as he was much more focused on the pain. Roxas walked over to him and helped him up, with a scream of pain Lea finally managed to get to his feet with the assistance of Roxas. Putting his arm around Roxas as they began to run towards the entrance that was so near.
Lea didn’t even give a thought about the woman who had just saved them. He didn’t even take the time to look at her, she must have known something about the heartless. Lea remembered when he was younger, he use to stick up for all the younger kids like some kind of hero. He felt like the tides had flipped and he didn't like it. It was with this Lea threw himself away from Roxas only just being able to stand. He looks at Roxas, showing that he was about to say something that was of great importance.
“We need to help her!” He just managed to get out of his mouth before grunting and grabbing hold of his rib cage again.

Don't worry they'll be attacked again
She spun around lightly on the ball of her foot, Truth Seeker clutched tightly in her hand as she made a gesture towards the heartless. A wave of air spun from it, knocking the dark creatures away-- and her expression in return was a grim mixture of a snarl and a smile, fanged teeth bared with her lips pulled back in a mockery of happiness. Blind catgirl. Was that what she was going to be known to him for the rest of their interactions, regardless of how brief or... perhaps not, judging from this encounter, they might have been?
Two hearts. Two beacons of light. I will not let you have them. She had already lost an entire world. Y'shtola knew better than to place the blame squarely on her own shoulders, knowing that she didn't have the clout or the sway to matter asomuch, but that didn't mean it didn't weigh heavily on the fractured and tattered remnants of whatever was still in her chest. She had lost a world, and she would not lose anyone further.
"Help me?" A hollow laugh as rocks ripped themselves from the ground of the tunnels, rising up before slamming down to piercing the heartless that had been making a weak attempt to crawl back towards the blond and the redhead. "Getting yourselves out of here would be what would help me the most." She could appreciate their pluckiness, truly, but allowing for civilians (which they were) to stick around in a monster attack (which this was) would be grossly irresponsible on her part.
The blonde grinding his teeth almost there, just couple of more feet, almost there. Please just put a little more effort Lea, let's just make it already. He focused the heart beging for the girl to do good, for Lea to make it, and just overall everyone get out of there alive. Let nothing be broken, let nothing hinder, just make it.
Then he heard it, a call grunt whisper freezing him to the spot. "we need to help her!" his heart completely skipped a beat, he.. He.. wanted to.. Really. It was as if he understood what Roxas was wishing, demanding, just. But. Lea couldn't make it not alone. Then came the feminine response hollow, a loud slamming noise causing Roxas to flicker looking back at her blue eyes widen with shock as a spear stabbed another black ink goo.
She spouted out about them escaping would greatly help her. He couldn't help but agree, yet same time. He didn't know.. He bit his lip hard giving a small nod noise pushing Lea further, "Come on, she's right." Practically forced breathed it out tears rolling up into his eyes. Damn. Damn. Damn. Why couldn't he do Anything? Right?

"FINDING FRIENDS WITH THE SAME MENTAL DISORDER"
Lea hated that he had to agree with the girl. He was always the hero, and it felt strange having the shoe on another’s foot. The feeling of being helpless was hurting Lea more than the gash buried in his rib cage. He was usually too proud to run from something, too proud to allow someone else to deal with his problems.
Then another surge of pain fell on Lea’s rib cage and get griped it tightly once again. It felt like being stabbed repeatedly with every movement he made. Lea fell to one knee with a loud and almost screaming fashion. He was silent as he felt helpless and knew that he couldn’t fight this battle.
He looked back up at the heartless, such strange creatures. The way they looked, the way they moved was just so... Abnormal. Almost as abnormal as the fact that he knew their names. He didn’t know how, and he hadn’t seen them at all, this being a creature he would surely have remembered. Everything just didn’t seem to add up, and Lea didn’t like it.
Pulling himself back into the moment, Lea raised his head and looked at Roxas. He could see tears forming in his eyes, he didn’t know if it was from fear or the helplessness. Either way, Lea knew that he couldn’t put himself in danger. With Xion missing, Roxas wouldn’t be able to survive without Lea and he knew it. Not that he would ever tell him that.
Lea, still looking in Roxas' eyes “OK, but I still want to go to that clock tower”. A smirk emerges on Lea’s face, something no one would expect to see in a situation as such. He held out his hand to Roxas, gesturing a hand up. He was still holding his rib cage which was giving off more of a burning sensation than a stabbing pain, thanks to the short rest.

Turn away. Run away. Tuck their tails between their legs and vanish through the tunnels and run away like the cowards that they were.
If they could.
The shadows didn't stand a chance against the cat-eared woman, her magic tossing them aside and stabbing their bodies before they could crawl their way after the other two. Shadows weren't the only heartless desperate to their their claws on the captive hearts of the two now fleeing.
Inky shadow formed several pits in front of them, creating a solid stretch of darkness on the ground where they would need to step. They could try to jump it, but Lea's injuries would make that more than a little difficult. That would leave walking through it, which--
If they decided to do that, it would result in both of them being grabbed and pulled down. If they balked, then a tall, humanoid figure out rise up to slash one hand clawed hand forward, cutting through the flesh of the chest or stomach of whichever male was closer.
Getting their hearts would be easiest if they were torn out of their bodies.

Even er I must end my life to save my world, t'would be a sacrifice I know would not be in vain.
I have no idea if Roxas or Lea was slashed. That can be up to you two : D
She had grown cocky. Worse, she had grown sloppy, and she wasn't the one that was going to pay for it.
The heartless had seemed so easy to beat, and Y'shtola found she couldn't help but smirk as she erased with her magic. Light and earth and wind tore them apart, and for a brief moment she felt confident. She felt powerful. Her own world was gone, swallowed up and destroyed, but she could do this. She could protect these two and with ease.
Or so she thought before the coppery scent of blood filled the air and assaulted her nose, causing her ears to flatten against her skull as the mage whipped about. There were several shadows still around her and they made to bat and claw at her ankles, but Y'shtola ignored them as she started forward. Her first steps were stuttered, legs wobbling, before she broke into a near sprint to get closer to the other two.
"LIGHT!" Truth Seeker was held up high as the holy energy rippled out from around her. She had no doubt it would be too late though, and that the damage from the heartless had already been done.
Lea had concluded that he couldn’t play hero anymore and this was the point where he had to get out. Getting Roxas out of this situation needed to be a priority now, and he had no time to think about who or what that girl was.
It was this thought that pits began to swarm around the two and it seemed like there was little to no escape. Lea began to sink back down as he knew that he would limit Roxas in any way of escaping. The worst part was that even if he was to tell Roxas to leave, the yellowed haired asshole would still want to help me. The shadowy pits looked as though it was almost breathing with it slowly bouncing up and down. Even though Lea was too proud to admit it, he was scared out of his boots.
Roxas wasn’t moving, and it looked like he was almost frozen solid. Lea could only begin to imagine the thought going through his head. Then Lea became as still as Roxas as he saw a large humanoid figure rise from the dark shadowy depths. The figure had no features and it was nothing but a figure that seemed like something out of the bad part of the bible. It was demon-like, and it gave that feeling with only it’s presence.
Lea saw it pull its hand back ready to slash its way at Roxas. Roxas was obviously still frozen in place and wasn’t going to make any attempt to move. Lea thrust himself forward as the figure's hand near sliced him in half… WORDS: 267 COMMENTS: We will now go with @gingerfrost
Caught with indecision it caused longer than needed hesitation. Suddenly a huge flash as the color red seemed to jump slightly forward toward something the enemy he realized with sudden shock. The enemy making full on gash attacking, "LEA!" He shouted the eight of the larger figure causing him to slightly loose balance dropping them both to the ground. This. This. This. Was all his fault! He was too slow, too caught up helping.. Her. That Catear Girl. Just. Confused needing to do something. "LEA" He shouted again attempting to lift the guy up, Fuuuuuuuuck! Between blurriness of tears he shouted toward catear, "I need help! Catear Girl! It hit him!" As he said this he attempted to push the thing back hard as he could off his friend.
