Aqua was originally a keyblade master from The Land of Departure, she lived with Terra and Ventus, constantly watching over them like a mother hen. Over the years the three of them became the best of friends, caring for one another, making sure a smile was always on their faces. She loved them like her own and for a time she didn't think anything would go wrong, but then Xehanort appeared and her world came crumbling down. Her two best friends weren't near her anymore, each of them was thrown into a chaotic world, where darkness came for them at every corner. In the end, Aqua fought hard to save her friends, and in a way she did, but at the same time ended up losing them as well. In order to save them, she left herself drift into the dark realm and stayed there for years, never to be seen again.

In her new life, Aqua was still given the short end of the stick. She had parents who loved her, but after her father's death at the age of ten, she found her life spiraling out of control. She was forced to move to Twilight Town, despite her mother still being alive, for the longest she couldn't stand the woman. She didn't get why she wasn't wanted and made herself forget all about her, but during the night she cried herself to sleep. When she got a little older she was informed of her mothers' true intentions of mostly wanting to focus on herself instead of her child. Aqua found herself accepting what she was told, she knew by now her mother didn't want her and any information given was an excuse. She'd simply make her own family one that would love and cherish her as she would them, but sooner than she wanted things got a little rocky.
[break][break]
During her time at the group home a boy named Terra appeared, not only did Aqua feel threatened by his appearance, she felt agitated by his presence. He always seemed like he was better than everyone else, not only that but he completely ignored her, even when she tried to be nice to him. She didn't want anything to do with him, but time and time again she found herself near him, or around him, always feeling like she had to prove herself to him. Why else was he ignoring her? It soon became aware to everyone they would never become friends, especially since they either bickered a lot or was always in competition with one another. Aqua knew it was childish but she wanted to feel needed, wanted and love, her idea of family was warped. Her mother abandoned her and although she said she accepted it, it was quite hard to come to term with truly.
[break][break]
Whenever around Terra she would push herself, she saw how great he was and how everyone liked him, not that she was unlikable, but his aura was different. She wanted to be like him, but after some time she came to see that his presence was positive. The two of them had even stopped competing and Aqua came to see that she was better with him around. She thought about her mother less and more on how to improve herself, and it was all thanks to Terra. The two of them became fast friends and from then on only smiled around one another.
[break][break]
Their friendship even expanded as one more child entered the home, Ventus, for a time he seemed quite lost, Aqua constantly worrying about him when he first arrived. She treated him like her own child, eventually "adopting" him as her own, even if it was silly she cared for Ventus a great deal. It was like a switch turned on inside of her and she came to see how much she loved children. Soon after she moved her way to gain her bachelors in teaching, she finished and is currently getting her post-grad in it. She loves her life more than before, happy that she's met her friends.
