the cracks in our memories can't change the bonds in our hearts
Welcome
to Simple and Clean, an au post-3D Kingdom Hearts roleplay.
After Xehanort removed the chains of memories linked not to people, but to objects and events - the keyblade, the Princesses of Heart, and Kingdom Hearts itself - the heroes found themselves living in a world where they are... ordinary. Where they are highschool and college students, parents or siblings, and living in a world not too far removed from our own.
Casting his spell cost Xehanort strength and time, but he's begun to move - and not everyone had their memories pulled. How will the worlds react to the return of the darkness when the light doesn't know to stand against it?
Events
Xehanort's awakening is at hand, and with it has come the beginning of the destruction of his spell.
Updates
10/08/17 First major site event has begun! Xehanort has awoken and he's hellbent on ensuring his plans will not be interfered with. A halloween writing contest has started as well, so be sure to check them both out.

He wasn't sure how many days had passed since Xion had failed to return home from school. That was how Riku had chosen to interpret her disappearance, how he had decided he would process the event-- that she had simply failed to arrive at point B from point A. Nothing truly awful could have happened to her when all her needed to do was figure out was caused the hiccup in her travel plans. Nothing bad had happened.
Nothing had attacked her.
-- His mantra, that he had become next-to-obsessed with repeating to himself whenever he rubbed the scar that had formed on the back of his left calf, remnants from the incident with the fake version of Roxas.
Riku was a mess. He had stopped going to work, stopped showering or taking care of himself, stopped resting or eating, and his world had become single focus. Xion. Find Xion. Find Xion.
... Maybe he-- would know where she is-- or how I could find her--
After all, Roxas had been rather insistent on the fact that Riku was somehow the only one who would be able to save everyone. Xion, as well as Sora and Kairi and... Namine, as well as names he hadn't been able to recognize or remember. Maybe he had been a little hasty to push him away in his fear and anger.

A large swing had happened after the events of a certain... Individual file going completely missing, it seemed to throw the whole flow of the simulation absolutely completely off. No worst, it was causing her specific watch duty individual much stress, and he seemed to show signs of.. breaking something highly against protocol, best absolutely avoid. Breaking the very Law of the Land will destroy the very essence of balance created by Master Xenahort, the great Program.
She cleared her throat walking forward in a calm trusting pale yellow-white sundress with brown hat, yellow colors were meant to bring the childish nature of humanoids. It was that or the color blue, and well she grew tired of blue, it was as if green, blue, and red were so annoying and everywhere. Now yellow, she was yellow. Calmly she walked up to him holding a white purse with a slight brown buckle. "Riku!" She shouted waving an arm trying to get his attention smile on her face. "Where have you been? Have you been calling in? Or missing work? I feel I haven't seen you in days!" She placed on her most cheeriest voice, she was meant to be a rich female with absolute highest regard for people. To the point she left all her riches just to get a common folk job, after all.
Her long blonde hair seemed to flow out around her complimented by the light pale yellow dress. Her dark indigo eyes however slightly stood out as an irregularity, partial blame to her origin data, really if she had a choice they'll be blue. Human males and their obsession with blue and blondes, she didn't get it.. The media certainly did, made millions from it, whatever. Humans.

Turquoise eyes blinked as Riku was jerked from his own thoughts. A slight turn, a stare-- and it took him far too long to really process just who it was that was talking to him. Brair. Right. One of the girls that worked with him at the cafe.
What. What was she doing here?
It was doubtfully anything more than just happenstance, and a light shake of his head had him pushing any stray thoughts out of his mind. Even if there was any sort of malicious intention in her actions, he wasn't in any sort of mental state to try to cling to the idea at the moment.
"Calling in." Right. Another blink as a hollow laugh escaped the silver-haired male. "Right. That's a thing you're supposed to do when you're planning on skipping work, isn't it. I probably should have been done that. But hey, don't you know it doesn't matter?" A pause as he made a frantic gesture around him, pointing at the sidewalk and the cityscape surrounding them. "None of this is real! Or. Or something like that."
No... that wasn't true. Or that wasn't the way that-- What Roxas, the other Roxas, the fake Roxas who thought he was a Hero and Riku was just letting him down just like he let down everyone else in his life--
"-- Xion's missing. I-- I can't go back to work I-- I gotta find her--"

There was an incredibly long pause as she stared straight at the turquoise bright eyes, it was like he was lost in his mind. Of course he was, just sending waves of depression and absolute digression of sanity. Dammit, why did she get stuck sitting him of all the pathetic humans. Its like 1 screw up, and she was gone... Without a trace. Advantages of being just made up of data, poof dead, gone.
She slightly crossed her arms tapping her finger slight irritation, soon relaxing back to her posing attitude. "Yes silly, that's exactly what it is. What do you mean it doesn't matter? Some family member died?" She relaxed her posture slightly linking her fingers tilting her body, Xion, of course he will blabber about Xion. Ugh, all in her reports, just make him feel better, give him hope. Only to erase it all away. What to replace it with though? His sister gone, so like... How to fix that link? Was there a way to create a new Xion? She looked around, plenty of NPCs to dress up. He gave a frantic frustrated movement screaming about it not being real. Her focus suddenly flashed brightly back toward him. What! He knows! How! She quickly scanned him confused, how did she miss these.. these. signs? Just. How was she suppose to Reset Him now? Completely erase Xion and whatever the last days happened? Dammit, why couldn't the repair man not made a new xion or whatever.
She stepped forward taking a more gentle soft sad movement. "Xion's missing? Yo-you're sister right?" Her voice slightly broken confused. Her dress slightly swinging from her sadness. "We.. Okay. I'll Help you find her. I don't know what you mean by real..." She reached forward as if to gently tap him speaking still gentle tone, "How long?" Her eyes looked round and innocent clueless, her mind cussing on how she'll ever clean up this freak human. "Di-di-did you ask the police?"

"She isn't dead! She isn't-!" The words felt like it had been ripped from him as his eyes widened frantically, breath catching in his throat. That hadn't been what Brair had meant, he was sure of that, but his fevered mind had easily twisted the meaning to that. Xion was gone, Xion was dead. After all, he had already been thinking that himself, wasn't he? Missing people didn't tend to show up later on in Shibuya. Missing people tended to just stay missing.
Riku's breathing was labored and came out in harsh, ragged bursts through his nose when she moved closer to him, hand tapping his shoulder gently. He jerked back reflexively before struggling to relax, knowing that there was no threat from her. She was just trying to help, wasn't she? That's what people did. They helped.
"It's not real. That's what he said..." A pause and a grimace as Riku turned, wincing as one hand reached up, butt of his hand slamming firmly against the side of his head.
"The police?" Riku let out a snort before glancing back at Brair. "What would they do? They would just take one look at her case and laugh me out of the precinct. She's eighteen, she can run off if she wants to. But--"
That was true, wasn't it. She could run off whenever she wanted to. She could leave whenever she felt the desire to. Riku was worried, but Xion didn't have to tell him where she was, where she was going-- she could just leave, and there was nothing he could do about it. And he was-- fine with that. Honestly!
But that wasn't what had happened this time. There was something wrong and Riku knew it. He could feel it, deep in his bones.
"-- ... I know my sister, Brair. I know she wouldn't have just run off and left me behind. Something happened to her and I... I can't find her."
[ WORDS ] [ NOTES ] AND LET THIS BEGIN [ TAG ] @brair
Not real? Not real? He said... He.. said. Who was this he? She couldn't grasp around, was this individual the very core reasoning for the sudden shifts? Or something grandeur? None of this absolutely made sense. She watched as he animated his feelings releasing snorts, creating human language that she could imitate never feel. He glanced at her pointing out that his sister was eighteen and legally allowed to run off.
Course the police fail, how.. Did. Ugh. All the things were just falling apart, why didn't things last forever? Like seriously, what was about all this. The moment this world fell apart, the moment her existence basically was well pointless. Not that she had a point, it was but 1 place of many, and only created for one purpose. He pleaded toward her talking about how his sister ran off, that something happened. Of course something happened, why else they been scattering trying to find her and fix the damn flow of the core simulated experiences in the name of Xenahort.
She took deep breaths, if this guy freaks out anymore the whole damn place was going to fall apart. Why didn't her master just screw all these people and kill them, what was the point of trophies? They didn't need to exist, she didn't need to exist, this whole damn place didn't need to exist. Dead, dead joke was pretty bad call on her part. Acting. All in the acting, gotta cause chaos before the order. Slowly she pulled her arms away looking up at him clearest indigo almost deep purple colored eyes and spoke highest emotion her fake little body could produce using all her broken lame programming. "okay... You are right. They'll do nothing. My-my-my parents can. They have loads of money, I'll simply make a request with our... Investigation team."
She paused taking a false shakey breath as if fighting something deep inside. "He may be able to help.. Just.. we have to go my place, somewhere private. Get the paperwork done. I-I-I'll pay for the whole thing." She paused her arms moving up and down as if to secure something lost, "It-it sucks.. To lose family. Just.... Be helpless... " Small tears formed in her eyes as if she was pulling from Riku's reactions, really something to gain a bit more trust.

This was the first time someone had actually offered to truly help in a way that made any sort of logical sense to Riku, and it no longer seemed to make any sense to him. Going to the police really was what he should have done. If she really was in trouble they would help and... if not they taking Brair up on her offer, and letting her parents fund a private detective would be the next best thing.
Because, after all, it would completely idiotic to go with the idea that this world wasn't real. It clearly was. Maybe-- no, clearly he was just stressed and he was just... maybe he had just been...
"Have you lost family?" The statement, question, sounded like it was coming from someone else, words seeming to echo in his ears as he stared down at Brair. "You... You've never mentioned anything like that... before..."
Which was completely normal. Right? People didn't just bring up their tragedies in the middle of everyday conversation. It wasn't just... convenient... for her to try to mention this now...
[ WORDS ] [ NOTES ] AND LET THIS BEGIN [ TAG ] @brair
Why was it never as easy as 'do this; get this' she could only show the hurt flicker harsher than before, "Look I owe this to, please... please let me do this for you..." She paused looking away fro his face before taking a deep calming breath as he asked about her family. Well crap, nothing about a missing relative in her generated backstory, time to request fake backstory. Processing. Pause. Alienate, invite. She pulled herself away giving him more space as if she was slightly scared to mention.
A long pause, before she scratched her thick blonde hair. "Well... My brother. He died when I was young, in a car crash. Left me devastated for months, just... trying to. Move on. My family.." Her shoulders dropped yes clouding over small tears gathering as if temporarily locked in a scene. She blinked several times focusing back on Riku. "He. My family basically split, leaving me alone in this stupid city. With nothing but damn reminders of who he was, how he was, and just damn how happy he could be." She released a small sigh looking back at Riku, "Look, it sucks to lose somebody. The longer she's out there, the more danger she just might be. Let me help you." Well, she certainly didn't want to do this in public, but the sooner she finished the work, sooner his damn barrier go down re-stabilizing the system. Damn paranoid boy.

i don't like your little games
It was hard to really pin down what he felt hearing this. Sorrow... and guilt? How long had he known Brair? (No, really, how long... because trying to actually think about that or focus on that made everything feel fuzzy and his thoughts just seemed to slide away. It wasn't truly possible for her to've always been apart of his life, yet when he tried to think about it she was just always there.)
"Brair, I..." One hand stretched out before his fingers hesitantly rested against her shoulder. "I'm sorry I... I didn't know..."
How didn't he know why didn't he know that weren't they supposed to be close this didn't--- why--
Turquoise eyes narrowed as his brow furrowed, and he found himself giving just a singular shake of his head. It wasn't really in disagreement or to tell her no, just that... this didn't feel right. No."Xion isn't dead. I... I know she isn't I..."

He was breaking, practically feel the glitch effecting the whole system, shit. His hand reached out gently grazing her shoulder speaking soft tones of confusion, she stared down the specimen complete senseless confused mop. Did he not understand that she was just making simple connection, as humans state? Why must they be so damn complex, you type in the function, and you complete the action. There were loop backs, but this was just plain annoying.
This wasn't a simple system fix, this was a complete reboot. She really had no choice but just reboot his memory with whole new memories, ugh this will risk breaking other connected memories. Meaning that she would have to speak with the other Datas to work out a new story system causing a potential crash. Yet, this thing right here... Is increasing crash right this very moment. Oh great creator, she was doing what was right, save the system. Clean up later. She stepped forward her hand slipping upward onto his neck pulling him forward that last few steps of arm reach forcing both their foreheads together.
Data completely connecting with the memories quickly began to download the new intel story that she was the xion, the other pieces were just simple made up dreams, that this world was real. Everything was damn real and he was going through a slight personal mental rehabilitation recently. That this was just some medication acting up, she took a deep breath when the transition was complete taking a step back her body shaking from the power she had used. Her round indigo eyes staring up at him eyes gathered, "Riku?" she cautiously spoke confused and hurt as if he pulled something wrongful on her once more.
Her full thought processing focusing on, this better damn well stable the system. How the hell am I suppose to fix if that girl showed up, damn may just have to delete her for good. Then those others. Maybe should prevent him from leaving the city, that'll prevent character interactions with that damn Roxas Kid and lea till everything cleaned up. Ugh. Going to have to connect with everyone letting the email update of what just happened. Master better be glad don't just kill the boy where he stands.

His statement was aborted as Riku went slack, body going limp as his arms hung loosely and uselessly at his side. His gaze went glossy, mouth hanging open, and even his breathing seemed to stop for a moment.
"... Br... brair...?"
The silver-haired male blinked as he took a step back. He lifted his hands to stare down at them. "I..."
--had been attacked? No-- Scratch that, almost literally. As the memories surfaced, it was almost as it someone had ripped the tape it had been recorded on, abruptly ending it and replacing it with glimpses of being taken away to a place with sterile white walls and rooms empty save for a dresser and bed, of living in a place where he wasn't even trusted to have shoelaces, let away his own fork. A... breakdown?
Had he tried to kill himself?
Pills. So many pills. The mental image of a small pill of them, red and beige and white piled atop each other, flashed into his thoughts before vanishing when he blinked. Too many...
He went through the usual motions of all mortal going through the whole transition. Rather hideous you asked her, Datas just download the information can smile doing it, mortals... Half of the deny the damn information and something in the computer had to fix the problem. His silver eyes seemed to have grown more wide, more weaken, slowly taking in this new information. Could we not speed things along?
His facial expression began to change with each little new detail turned over and scanned, he if she had to explain, was like a Windows 2000... Taking forever just to load the damn screen, then suddenly whoop reached Windows 8 all the data running across it rather faster spees. Well not as fast as the newest programs used in their world, just annoyingly fast enough to be compared. His body seemed to give a small shake, that as humans will call "fear", it was mechanism for protection. Honestly she thought it did exact opposite, caused them to panic, make stupid mistakes. Like for example swerving in the middle of a road killing 10 because they saw a "ghost". Humans.
More tears gathered in her eyes as he finally spoke up to her, she flung herself toward him wrapping him in a hug. "I was worried, you blanked out a moment." She cried between tears grasping his shirt, she clutched tighter before calming down enough to speak. "Yo-yo-you're okay, we-well just make an appointment tomorrow. Ta-talk about your feelings, the Doctor will help." She gave another sniffle rubbing her nose into his chest before pulling away with a sad smile, "Wanna go get a cup of coffee? "

"Talk about my feelings..."
Riku repeated the words through numb lips, feeling a bit disconnected from the situated at hand. What... what had just happened.
What was he feeling?
Confused, lost, frustrated. Scared.
"The doctor?" Confusion laced his tone as Riku gently pulled away from Brair, eyes narrowing as his brow knit in confusion. "I... I don't... I don't remember the doctor..."
Only, there had to be one. If there was a hospital, if he had spent time in one, then there. There was a doctor. He just...?
At the mention of going to get coffee, Riku found himself shake his head. "No. No, I think coffee would be a... a bad idea right now."
She tilted her head giving a slightly to forced of a smile, "No worries, he will certainly remember all about you." As if to make a point she gently poked him in timing with her twisted speech. She paused stepping back as if something had dawned on her, "Of course. We should head home, I-I'll take your shift tonight." She slipped hurt in her voice, before twisting her fingers onto his, "Maybe you need to rest?" She said softly.
OOC: hey if you want we can go ahead and end this thread. Than Riku and DR can have their threads.
