"Aqua? Terra? Guys?"
He had wandered off, yes. That was true. Ventus wasn't going to try to deny that. But-- But!-- he had only wandered off for just! One second! His attention had just slipped away when he was looking at one of the gardens, this one showing the results of genetic manipulation to create strains of flowers with multi-colored petals. Beautiful and yet he had found himself wondering if it had hurt them. Could... Could plants even feel hurt?
The blond didn't quite feel panicked, though he did feel the beginning sensations of concern over the fact that the bluenette and the brunet were both gone. A small huff escaped him as Ventus found himself glancing back and force before he began to jog forward, gaze shift around to see if he could catch sight of either of them through the winding gardens that surrounded the research center.

Lea made his way through the gorgeous gardens that he held so dear. It was quite strange for him to care about such a place, with his past making him out to be quite the ruffian. Each flower represented his memories he missed, his mother, his friends, all of it... Kind of.
Lea came to the gardens frequently lately while Roxas was in school, gave him time to think. It seems strange saying that as he always feels like there is a hole in his mind. Like a wounded soul trying to regain its strength.
Continuing along the dirt path, sliding the heel of his feet as he walks. It wasn’t long before he found himself walking towards a guy, no younger than eighteen, looking extremely lost. The guy looked strangely similar to Roxas, but Lea knew for a fact it wasn’t him.
Lea walks up to the blond and taps him on the shoulder, “You all good?”

Ventus blinked as he glanced over to the other. "Yeah, I'm okay!" His tone was bright and cheery as he turned, hands lacing together behind him as he smiled up at the stranger.
Was he a stranger? Red hair and facial marks that the man had were both incredibly distinctive, and Ventus was positive he would remember seeing them. Neither really seemed to ring any bells for him and yet still... had they met before?
"I came here with my brother and sister and I just can't find them now. Girl with blue hair, guy with brown hair." Another smile, followed by a shrug. "I'm sure they just got distracted with something, though, and I'll find them sooner or later."
His head canted slightly to the side as Ven peered curiously as the other. "Did you come here with anyone?" It was a ridiculously straightforward question, but one that he couldn't help but ask. Maybe that would help him figure out where he might have known the other one from...

At first, Lea was taken back by the crazy resemblance between the boy that stood before him and Roxas. It was crazy how similar the two looked. He shook his head a small bit just to nudge himself back in to reality.
Now, back in reality the feeling of deja-vu surrounded Lea, and it wasn’t just because he looked like his close friend. He had seen, or even known this person before now. It sounded crazy, even to him, but it was a feeling that Lea just couldn’t shake off.
When the boy spoke about his brother and sister Lea began to think that maybe he had known them. Maybe he had met one of them and seen a picture of the boy, or something. It was at this point that Lea realised that he was coming up with any explanation to this feeling, backing up just how powerful the feeling was.
“No, I tend to come here when I have the time.”
Lea decided he was going to see where this conversation would go, and hoped that maybe it would lead to a much better explanation to this crazy feeling.

“Really?” It surprised him, but not really in a bad way. Ventus just grinned at him before laughing some. “I wish I could do something like that! I don’t think I could actually go anywhere without my siblings, though… I’m too afraid of being alone. I always just feel like… something bad’s going to happen to me if I’m left alone.”
The odd smile that had been playing across his lips seemed to falter for a moment as Ventus looked over towards the gardens. Funny. He hadn’t been lying; he did hate being by himself in the grand scheme of things. If he hadn’t run into the other, it was likely he would have started to actually panic. But… all of those bad feelings and all of those worries, they just didn’t seem to really matter right now because he wasn’t alone.
Because he knew him.
“If you aren’t here with anyone, do you want to walk through the gardens with me? Maybe we’ll run into Aqua and Terra while we do it.” It was a reasonable enough request… ish. Really it would have made more sense to split up and look for them separately, or to just look for them instead of being distracted by the pretty flowers, but…
Also strange how the thought of giving him his name had never actually come to mind.

This guy had to be related to Roxas in one way or another, Lea knew it, the face, the way he talk. It was begging to drive lea slightly insane. But, he tried to not let this uncanny resemblance cloud what was going on.
“Sure, I’m just going to walk around anyway, it would be nice to have someone to talk to.”
Lea wasn’t sure how this was going to go, but he wasn’t too worried about it. He had been having a rough time looking for Xion on his days off, everything had kind of been work at this point, a new face… Well, new personality may help get him through the day. That, and the constant curiosity of why this boy looked so much like Roxas, and why Lea knew that he already knew him, it was going to drive Lea insane this whole time and he knew it.
He turned and continued down the path, looking at the sky before realising the boy still hadn’t moved.
“Well, you coming?”
Asking for a name never even slipped in to his mind.

A smile graced Ventus' lips as he hurried over to the over. He grinned up at him before clasping his hands behind him back, studiously keeping them held tightly together as they started to pace through the gardens. They were really lucky, honestly, to have such an extensive botanical exhibit so close to where they lived (or at least to where Ventus lived in Twilight Town; he couldn't really make any assumptions about the other, he supposed) and one that was free to explore as well. There were other places that weren't nearly as good as the Radiant Gardens that you had to pay for! Ha!
... lucky...
"Oh!" He didn't really think before reaching out to snag the taller male's hand, squeezing before tugging to make sure that he followed along with Ventus. "I want to show you my favorite flowers!"
It was a silly, borderline childish thing-- but Ventus supposed he was a silly, borderline childish person. And zinnias were such an underrated flower. The ones that grew in the gardens were large and a rainbow of colors, the petals themselves multicolored streaks that seemed like they should have been an impossibility to happen in nature. And yet...
"Aqua took me to see these not long after I came to live with her." Lea's hand was released as they stopped in front of the flower exhibit. Ventus took one step forward, smiling almost sadly as the member of their first time here came back. He had been so sad... so scared... "She said that I could look at it and always remember... Remember the people who matter to me."
The red-head was greeted with a crooked grin when Ventus looked back over at him. "It's what the flower means. All flowers have a meaning and this one's the memory of a dear friend."

The silence as the two walks wasn’t as awkward as this kind of silence usually was. It was pleasant, and he almost just felt happy to be there with this total stranger. Lea had felt this very rarely, seeing as he always seemed to be on his toes about something. Especially now, with everything that is going on with Xion, Lea would never expect to see himself so calm and relaxed around a random person.
The gardens were indeed quite amazing, the flowers where all placed so that they all would fit in perfectly with one another. It was almost like some sort of perfect reality, and it was O’ so very beautiful. The colours each went together like a perfect rainbow, not an odd one out of the bunch.
Lea jumped as he was grabbed and rushed towards what the boy had called his ‘favourite flowers’. This didn’t seem to bother Lea as much as one would think, it was nice to have someone else to take the initiative. He was always ready to take over a situation, but it was nice for someone to be this excited to spend time with him. Like they hadn’t even exchanged na-…
It was now that it had really hit Lea that they hadn’t exchanged names, something so commonly exchanged in an introduction. What made the whole situation even stranger, lea felt like he had known him for years and he felt nothing but joy and glee in the last five minutes that they had been together. Which was hard for someone in Lea’s current situation.
Lea smiled as he was dragged along, making his way to the famous flowers. He heard the boy mention his sister's name once more as he let go of his hand. Looking up at them, they were just as amazing as the boy had made them seem. With almost every flower having a different colour scheme, and the changes in the petals as they made their way into the centre was something unique.
The young boy explained to Lea the meaning behind the flowers, and Lea could only reply with silence. He stared at the flowers with a short pause before looking at the boy, with his crooked grin and spiky hair, “That makes sense…” Lea said as he took a step closer to the boy, “Friends are people you will never be able to lose, no matter how hard you try, and having something so beautiful remind you of them, shows how much they really did matter to you” Lea’s eyesight went from the boy’s bright blue eyes to the ground in one swift motion.

“I hope that’s true…”
It was such a… cheery thought. So nice. People in your life, if they were important to you, they would never leave you no matter what. If they left, there would always be something that would tie you to them and that would bring you back to them.
He pressed his lips together for a moment, not wanting to allow the unpleasant rise of feelings to ruin the moment. But it… wasn’t true. People would drift away from one another and never come back. That’s what had happened to his parents after all, and it’s what had shattered his family to pieces. It’s why he had so many siblings and yet he barely had any. There was Roxas, but he was a stranger now. Sora, but he hardly knew him now. And then Aqua and Terra, the two that he had just been placed with because he had been deemed difficult.
It was his fault that his family had fallen apart. He could try to blame his mother, but… There was no reason for him to’ve overreacted the way he had. Stupid… you’re so goddamn stupid Ven…
A tight swallow as he looked back over at the other, forcefully ignoring what he could feel welling up inside his chest. “What about you? Do you have a favorite flower?” A pause, a beat, a smile that was just a bit too wide and too strained. “This place has pretty much anything so I’m sure they’d have it here.”

Lea was slightly worried that he had said something bad because of the boy’s facial expressions. It was almost like he was forcing back what he really felt, he had some experience with noticing it after hanging around with Roxas for so long. It was strange that the two did have small details about them, other than their obviously close to perfect appearance. Maybe that was why Lea was so comfortable around him… No, this felt so different compared to how he felt around Roxas. It was just getting his finger on what he was feeling that he couldn’t do. Maybe it was because of there was many feelings floating around in his head? Lea had no idea.
The boy eventually spoke, it was quite the inner struggle, but he did eventually get it out. Lea had never thought of his favourite flower. He had admired them all so much that he could never pick just one flower to admire the most. They all had their own special thing about them, whether it be the stories that came with them, or the colours that made them stand out. Picking a favourite never even crossed Lea’s mind.
Lea looked at the almost crazed smile of the boy, he started to resemble the Cheshire cat more than Roxas at this point. Lea giggled to himself lightly before meeting the boy’s bright blue eyes. His eyes were the kind of blue that everyone wished they had, the kind you only saw on a movie screen. It was this thought that made Lea kind of shake himself back to reality and realise he wasn’t acting like himself. It was strange, and lea didn’t know if this was a good thing or not.
Finally bringing himself back to the question, “I don’t think I could ever choose a favourite,” Lea said, lowering his smile. Thoughts began to roll through his head of all the people he had met throughout his lifetime, and each of their crazy different personalities. “Choosing a favourite would leave you with one flower being the one you admire the most, why would you choose one, when you can enjoy them all. Each unique feature giving the flower its own personality.”
Putting his hand behind his head, Lea’s smile grew back on his face. “Wow, you really bring something out in me.” Lea blurted out, placing a hand on the boy’s shoulder.
Lea had never been so casual about his emotions before, not even around Roxas. So, this boy really did have something special about him. At least in Lea’s eyes.

He crinkled his nose slightly, unsure of how he felt hearing that statement after showing the taller male his favorite one. If he didn't know any better (and admittedly, he really didn't, but Ventus felt like he did) he would have guessed the other was actually poking fun at him. The nerve.
"Sure you don't, tough guy." He grinned a little before moving closer to reach up and lightly prod at the other's cheek. "Sure this isn't your way of covering up the fact that your favorite is something cliche, like a rose or like... a pansy."
Pansy were actually very pretty flowers. It was a shame they were synonymous with some unfortunate things.

Lea noticed the boys quite unhappy reaction and quickly slotted that in his mind. He wasn’t trying to be rude at all, but he was now realising that it could have very much came out that way. Especially to someone as young as him, he wouldn’t be a day over Roxas’s age so he was thinking seventeen.
Lea had been called a tough guy on multiple occasions. So many that he began to start believing it. Even though, when it came down to it, Lea was a total softy. He felt things that most people he knew would abandon him for feeling. It was strange for someone who had lived the lifestyle Lea had to end up with such emotions. He did roll along with it though, the emotions helped him stay grounded, and helps him separate him from the pigs he left behind in Shibuya.
“I guess I could kind of relate to a pansy?” Lea joked with a small laugh that led to him giving the boy a slight pat on the back. He continued down the track and signalled for the boy to follow. He wasn’t sure what they were going to do now, maybe they may run in to the kids friends?

"Do you admit it, huh?" A grin, and a slight nudge towards the other with his elbow.
After a moment though he paused before turning, hand held out towards the other. "I'm Ventus." They had already spent so much time together that it felt almost silly to be introducing himself, but it was long past due, wasn't it? "Figured it might help so you don't have to just think of me as that annoying blond kid you ran into, heh..."
Right. Subtle self-deprecation. Smooth.
Ventus pressed his lips together for a moment before he peered up curiously at the other. "Um--"What's your name?"-So you said you didn't come here with anyone but-- why are you here, though? I mean... No offense but... you don't really seem like the type of person to like spending time in a place like this." The redhead seemed like he'd be more at home in the middle of a busy city, not in the middle of a flower garden.

Lea didn’t respond to the boys first words. He was tempted to say something smart back at him but ended up holding himself back. He instead gave a giggle and a wink to the blond before looking up at the sky. The sky was so beautiful, almost as beautiful as the flowers he was surrounded by. It was blue with only small clouds scattered about the blue surface.
Then the boy spoke his name for the first time since they had met. Strange, he did think about it once or twice, but he had once again forgot names were an important factor in a conversation. He smiled, and thought about how he could introduce himself. But, before he could, Ventus had already continued talking. It was funny, the boy just continued to take charge of the conversation, even though he wasn’t ‘that’ confident. At least, he didn’t seem that confident.
Ventus finished his huge bulge of chatter with a question that Lea knew almost everyone was thinking when they saw him in a place that wasn’t Shibuya. Which, he was from and indeed had inherited some common city habits that he never noticed until moving to Twilight town. Like, people talk to each other here without meaning. Lea was slowly adapting, which is noticeable by this new uncommon friendship.
“I was looking for a friend… She has been missing for a little while now.” Said Lea, almost trying to swallow the words before they left his mouth. He didn’t know if it was ‘OK’ for him to mention Xion at this point. Sure, he was her friend, but Riku probably wouldn’t want Lea blabbing about her disappearance to everyone he happened to meet.
Deciding to change the topic before Ventus could ask any questions about Xion. “My name is Lea by the way, got it memorised?” Lea said in a somewhat cheeky tone while pointing at his temple. He had a smirk on his face, because he loved his new saying. He had come to the conclusion it helped people remember things he never wanted them to forget.

His eyes widened, mouth slightly agape as the redhead spoke. "You're looking for someone too?" For a brief moment he was struck by the odd coincidence of their situations before the fact that no, they were very much not alike set in. Aqua (and Terra) weren't really missing, Ventus had just gotten lost in the maze that made up the botanical garden, and they definitely hadn't been missing for a 'little while now'.
"You're looking for someone who's actually missing and I'm just complaining about being a little lost!" He could feel himself grimacing, feeling both ashamed of himself and guilty.
"Who are you looking for? What's her name, what does she look like? Maybe I've seen her-- or if I haven't I keep a look out for her. Where did you last see her? Do you think she'd be out here?"
Question after question after question, but it was easier to focus on someone else's problems than to focus on his own.
Ventus paused then, brow knitting slightly as something else clicked. Wait-"-Lea?" That was... just an odd coincidence, he was sure, but he found himself smiling in embarassment. "My brother has a friend named Lea."
