the cracks in our memories can't change the bonds in our hearts
Welcome
to Simple and Clean, an au post-3D Kingdom Hearts roleplay.
After Xehanort removed the chains of memories linked not to people, but to objects and events - the keyblade, the Princesses of Heart, and Kingdom Hearts itself - the heroes found themselves living in a world where they are... ordinary. Where they are highschool and college students, parents or siblings, and living in a world not too far removed from our own.
Casting his spell cost Xehanort strength and time, but he's begun to move - and not everyone had their memories pulled. How will the worlds react to the return of the darkness when the light doesn't know to stand against it?
Events
Xehanort's awakening is at hand, and with it has come the beginning of the destruction of his spell.
Updates
10/08/17 First major site event has begun! Xehanort has awoken and he's hellbent on ensuring his plans will not be interfered with. A halloween writing contest has started as well, so be sure to check them both out.
[attr="class","defaulttext"]All Hallow's Eve is approaching, and things are getting a little... spooky, even within the bounds of Xehanort's magic. Bad dreams are on the rise and nightmares have become especially vicious. What should be the most peaceful and restful time of a person's day -- the time they sleep -- has started to become a hellish torture. [break][break] And you get to write that out! [break][break] Our halloween contest is a writing one. The prompt: write out your character's worst nightmare. You can enter once per character, and you enter by replying to this thread. [break][break] You will earn 100 munny for each character you enter. During the last week of October, a vote will open up for best nightmare. First place will get an additional 1000 munny!, second will get 500 munny, and third will get 250 munny. [break][break] Happy Halloween~
A scion from the world of Eorzea. She lost herself when her world fell to darkness, and exists only by tying herself to the power of the dreams of the sleepers of her world. When they awaken she will die, but she will accept this fate gladly.

Even er I must end my life to save my world, t'would be a sacrifice I know would not be in vain.

In her nightmare, she could see again.
It was the worst part of it. If she was blind and trapped in darkness permanently, if she never had memories of what colors and light was like, then it wouldn't hurt so much to know what she had lost. Having to see again and to be reminded of everything that she would never truly get back was... little more than rubbing salt in a wound that would never truly heal.
She was fine with that. It would take time for it to heal, and Y'shtola didn't expect that time was something she had much of.
Her friends were there, the scions that she had fought beside when Eorzea had been whole and their ranks had been strong, and they were there too. The Warrior of Light, the Keyblade Bearer that had kept her world safe from Xehanort's infection. They could only stand against him on their own for so long, unfortunately, and in her nightmares Y'shtola watched as they fell with the world, swallowed up in the darkness.
-- because, what if that were what had happened? There was no guarantee that her magic had been able to successfully send them away. All Y'shtola could do was hope and pray, and there was no way for her to know if her prayers would ever be answered.
Ventus currently lives in Twilight Town with Aqua and Terra. As far as he can remember, he suffered from a mental breakdown when he was 13 that resulted in his stopping speaking, and it caused him to be taken away from his family.

I feel like this life I'm living... wasn't meant to be mine.
His dreams were always fragmented and, when he woke up, Ventus clung to the idea that he would eventually forget them. That was what normally happened, wasn't it? People talked about the silly dreams they had, or even the horrific nightmares, and how they faded from their memories like water and sand slipping between their fingers.
It was never like that for him.
His dreams always stuck to him stubbornly, clinging to him like a second skin. Ventus wished he could shake them and forget but no, oh no, there they were. All he had to do was just take a mental stroll back in time and there he was-
With Aqua and Terra. Only... they were different. Dressed up in armor, with strange swords that resembled keys.
Strange, fragmented events happened-- involving a talking mouse, a witch, a strange dark version of himself, and beautiful princess that needed to be guided through angry, living woods. There was a mouse, one that was the size of a person that was dressed as a queen, and a duck dressed the same way, and both of them were in charge of a town-- and another mouse, and a wizard, and--
And--
And he woke up.
Only, sometimes Ventus wondered if he did. Or, rather, when he did. He slept, clearly. And he dreamt. But what he assumed was real, the world where he went to school and he struggled to study and take notes, so often felt fake and faded compared to the vivid memories of the surreal 'dreams' the haunted him at night.
